Editorial for Gary Minnick
Shelby County taxpayers did not vote down the last two tax proposals because they do not support education; they voted them down because they were certain that their tax dollars were not always being used wisely. We must reverse the trend of a growing local bureaucracy. Resources unnecessarily devoted to central office administration must be returned to the local schools for the good of our students. A comprehensive review of procedures and practices must be conducted to eliminate inefficiency and waste. This review must consider, among other things, the efficiency of all processes, allocation of personnel, facility utilization, student transportation, and the use of county-owned automobiles. Purchasing decisions must be more thoroughly screened in order to assure that funds are spent only on effective practices and programs. Gary Minnick will stop the waste of your money. Please vote Gary Minnick for Shelby County Superintendent of Education on June 6.
