The Chelsea Citizens Awareness Committee...

The Chelsea Citizens Awareness Committee (CCAC) is a group of citizens who love Chelsea and who want to be involved in informing Chelsea residents of goings on in their community. Currently, the organizers are Bob Nix, Mark Herrington, Lori Cheney, Daniel Root, Tommy Lyle, and others. We are hoping to secure at least one representative in each Chelsea subdivision to act as a conduit for information being given, and concerns being expressed. The CCAC plans to have representatives at each meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, as well as at the Planning Commission meetings on the 4th Monday of every month. These meetings are open to the public, however for those who are unable to attend, we plan to report on the actions or inaction of our City Government. We also plan to try to develop concerns from each subdivision to be brought before the Mayor and the Commissioners. If you are interested in participating, or would like further information, please furnish your e-mail address to one of the organizers listed below.
Proposed Development on Highway 39...

At the Planning Commission meeting on the 26th of August, the Chelsea Planning Commission approved the rezoning of approximately 6.9 acres on Highway 39 between the Twin Oaks and Yellowleaf subdivisions to allow for 26 garden homes. The Chelsea Planning Commission acts as an advisory commission to the Chelsea City Commission. Final approval of the rezoning must come from the City Commission.

While the impact of this development on property values would probably affect Twin Oaks and Yellowleaf the greatest, the traffic on Highway 39 will also be greatly impacted.

You are encouraged to attend the City Commission meeting September 3rd at 7:00 p.m. If you cannot attend and would like to know the outcome of this meeting, please furnish your e-mail address to one of the e-mail addresses listed at the end of this memo.
