Customer Appreciation Week 2004

The Mickey Berry Agency, located on Hwy 280 near Greystone and Chelsea, Alabama, reached out to clients early and often to let them know they are “treasured,” during National Customer Appreciation Week October 4-8, 2004. Holding a week-long open house for customers, referral sources, vendors and friends of the Agency to thank them for their support proved to be fun for Agency staff and visitors, alike.

The Agency mailed over 1500 brightly-colored postcards to clients and referral sources, using the “We Treasure our Customers” theme, to get the word out. They even called local businesses inviting them to stop by.

The office opened at 7am each morning with coffee, donuts and bagels so that customers could stop by on their way in to work. Afternoons, freshly popcorn, soft drinks and candy was available and the office remained open until 6pm for those who wanted to stop by on their way home.

Visitors were greeted not only with snacks, balloons, banners and giveaways, but staff gave visiting clients a standing ovation to show their appreciation. Additionally, “We put out a huge Farmers banner and signs that read ‘Mickey Berry Agency says, ‘Thanks!’,’ ‘Farmers Customers are #1,’ and ‘Customer Appreciation Week’ out on the highway in front of our office to get the attention of the 49,000+ cars that pass by our office each day as a testament that Farmers appreciates their customers,” says agency owner Mickey Berry.

A number of vendors supported the event by providing funding and/or prizes, including car rentals, dinners at local restaurants, a weekend getaway for two, tanning packages and gift baskets. “Maybe best of all, we used the cash contributions to sponsor a classroom at Chelsea Elementary School. We worked with the PTO to sponsor a teacher’s class which includes a child of a Farmers employee,” says Berry.

Berry finished by saying, “Overall, it was a huge success! We got involved in the community and let our clients know that we appreciate them, and had a lot of fun in the process! It was the first event of this sort we’ve held and now we can’t wait until next year!”
