Candidate's Forum

Due to the fact that many times voters go to the polls without a good basis for voting because a particular candidate is unknown to them, two citizens decided to sponsor a Shelby County Candidate’s Forum. This is to be an informational session with no endorsement for a particular candidate or political party and all Shelby County voters are invited to attend.

The format of the program includes a time limit for each candidate to speak and then a time for personal contact with the candidates. All qualified candidates for sheriff, coroner, board of education, superintendent of education, probate judge, circuit judge, circuit clerk and any other office up for election in the June primary in Shelby County will be invited to participate. Response from the candidates who have already qualified to run has been good with six of them already committed to attend.

The Shelby County Candidate’s Forum will take place on Sunday afternoon, April 30, beginning at 2 p.m. at Chelsea High School Auditorium. The citizen moderators are Sherry G. Pouncey and Juanita J. Champion.
