Chelsea Wal-Mart Opens Its Doors
The grand opening of Chelsea's Wal Mart Supercenter was held June 13, 2007 at 7:30 am in the Wal Mart parking lot. The store's manager, Connie Holder, co-managers, Chad Armstrong and Cindy Brasher as well as 11 assistant managers were introduced to the Chelsea community.
Liberty Baptist Pastor, Dr. Tim Cox gave the invocation. Presentation of Colors was by the Vincent High School Army JROTC Color Guard and the National Anthem was sung by Melodie Dean.
Mayor Niven and Mrs. Holder's expressed the mutual desire that the city of Chelsea and Wal Mart be a blessing to each other.
Just before the ribbon cutting by Earl Niven (Mayor of Chelsea), Wal Mart generously presented checks to...
- Chelsea Park Elementary School for $15,000 (which will be used to purchase play ground equipment for the new school),
- Hannah Home Shelby for $10,000 and
- Chelsea Youth Club for $4,500.
Happy shoppers entered the store for the first time at 8 am and were greeted by very enthusiastic handclapping and cheering Wal Mart employees.
The new store is located on the right at the 2nd traffic light on Hwy 280 in Chelsea.
