After The Big Kaboom!

A wonderful show of fireworks that seemed to rival Birmingham's Red Mountain's yearly event took place Tuesday night, July 3 in Chelsea Park. Red, white, blue, green, pink and gold fireworks (even some in the shape of smiley faces :) impressed the large crowd that gathered in the park.

Multitudes of people sat in lawn chairs and on blankets around a lake (and along the roadside) which reflected the display of lights. The view was great and the pleasant summer breeze made it even more enjoyable which was even cool enough for a sweater!.

The event lasted about 30 minutes. Although it took several minutes to leave the park, traffic was basically orderly. Deputy sheriffs controlled the traffic flow onto 280 to allow for a quicker, safer exit. All in all the Big Kaboom appeared to be a very successful event.
