Morningstar UMC Broke Ground!
Morningstar United Methodist Church in Chelsea, Alabama, broke ground on their first building on Sunday, May 5. The excited congregation gathered on the pinnacle of their 16 acre property to turn the first dirt and consecrate the project to the ministry of Christ. Construction will begin promptly.
Founding Pastor Steve West says, "Embarking on the very first building project is a huge step for a new congregation! God has poured out rich blessings on this body of Christ, and we make the commitment to build so that generations of others may be blessed with changed lives."
The congregation expects to enter their new building by Christmas. Designed by Turner/Batson Architects and built by D.L. Acton Construction Company, and financed by First National Bank of Shelby County, the building will feature a multi-purpose worship center that initially seats 230 and will expand as needs grow. Offices, classrooms, kitchen, prayer chapel, library and conference room, and weekday preschool facilities are included in the project. During construction, the congregation will continue to meet at the Chelsea High School Auditorium.
