C.O.P. Updates

The Chelsea Citizen Observer Patrol (C.O.P.) is continuing to provide excellent coverage for our city. Their primary role is to be the eyes and ears for the city and to report any criminal activity. All C.O.P. s are volunteers who devote their time and resources to the citizens of Chelsea. The C.O.P. s patrol the streets of Chelsea, assist in traffic control at the varsity football games, parades and other details as needed. We are pleased to have several new members joining the group and we encourage every citizen of Chelsea to consider volunteering with your neighbors in the worth while endeavor.

Mr. Bill Weldon is the Leader of the C.O.P. unit and is doing an outstanding job. Five of our volunteers recently attended the National Association of Citizens Observer Patrol Annual Convention in Corona, California. Those representing Chelsea were our co-volunteer of the year, Bryan Weldon along with Ted and Jane Harper, Ron Shaw and Sybil Swindle.

The C.O.P. meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00P.M. at the Chelsea Senior Citizens Building located on highway 36.

We welcome everyone in Chelsea to visit with us and hopefully join our unit.

The city budgeted $16,500 for the C.O.P. for fiscal year 2005-2006.
