We Need Soccer Fields in Chelsea NOW!

Five years have passed since our family moved to Chelsea. We have two sons,the oldest is attending UA. Our younger son plays soccer as well as basketball.

Soccer was on going for the second year when we arrived in Chelsea, thanks to Cathy During who saw the sports future on Chelsea`s horizon. Now in it`s sixth year we have in Chelsea a strong club full of talented children and trained coaches.

In the past I have attended town meetings pleading for soccer fields. At least twice, I have been told, there are plans for soccer fields.A new park was built, more baseball fields but no soccer fields We have facilities for most sports in Chelsea, it appears we have plenty of baseball fields,baseball is a big sport in Chelsea, but so is soccer. Not every kid fits into the square hole for baseball or football. We want to give our kids the chance to shine for Chelsea, but I feel that not enough effort is being made to improve the situation for the soccer club of Chelsea Youth club.

We have as many, and I suspect more, kids enrolled than any other one sport but still do not have a soccer field, through great work and dedication of many people, lead by Mr.David Sharp, we are a growing program that will soon over take all other sports in Chelsea. Soccer is a sport for everyone, no matter what sex or size.It would be tough to lose our most talented players to other clubs because of lack of dedication on the city`s part. It is time for the city that is borrowing Five Million dollars to build a city hall to take the time to view our club and our sport seriously.

Don`t wait till we bring you a state championship to take notice,do the right thing Chelsea, Chelsea kids need soccer fields now, don`t make more promises, please ACT.
